I purchased this machine in March 2004 as a general dogs body. The 4x4 was nearing the end of its life, I decided that a normal family car would suit the growing family, and a machine would be required to work on the house. There was not an ideal machine, everything had its limitations. In the end I settled on two main requirements, turn in a small space, and lift stuff. The Bobcat fitted both of these. I could have got a really old JCB at a similar price, however they are just too big manoeuvre on my site. The bobcat is small enough to deliver bricks right up to the work face, we have had it in the sitting room. It will shovel dirt, but for accuracy a excavator is required. It has turned out to be surprisingly good at levelling dirt, a task that is a lot harder than it looks with an excavator. The local farmer sells me red diesel, which means I can run the Bobcat full power all day for a fiver. ![]() ![]() |
